Tagline & Core Idea

Where signals become systems.

This phrase captures the core idea behind the company. Signals are the foundation of media technology. Systems are what make them reliable, scalable, and useful. Løvland Wørks focuses on the layer where raw signals become structured infrastructure.

Core Idea

Signals.
Frames.
Data.
Systems.

Løvland Wørks exists to explore and build the infrastructure behind media production. Not the visible layer. But the systems beneath it.

Color System

Category Accents

Base Palette

Text Scale

Original brief specified Signal Blue #2563EB as accent. Evolved to Signal Teal #0099B8 for a more restrained, technical character. Amber #C8860A and Violet #7B5EA7 added as category accents for Studio and Labs. Click any swatch to copy hex value.

14
Visual Motifs

Subtle visual references to infrastructure and signal systems. These elements appear in graphics, diagrams, and layout — always understated, never decorative for its own sake.

Signal paths

Lines representing data flow between nodes

Node networks

Connection points in distributed systems

Frame grids

Timing and structure of broadcast frames

Timing markers

Precision markers from broadcast timecode

Grain Texture

A subtle CSS fractalNoise grain overlay (opacity 0.035) is applied as a fixed layer over the entire site. This gives the dark canvas tactile depth and warmth — referencing the materiality of physical broadcast equipment.

15
Design Philosophy

The design language of Løvland Wørks reflects the nature of the work: technical, minimal, precise, Nordic. The goal is to create a visual identity that feels like an engineering studio rather than a marketing brand.

Key Characteristics

Strong typography

Type does the heavy lifting. The wordmark is the logo. Barlow Condensed at display scale is the primary visual statement.

Restrained colors

Black, off-white, and three deliberate accents. No gradients on primary surfaces. Color is used to signal category, not decoration.

Generous whitespace

Space is not empty — it is structure. Sections breathe. Content is never crowded.

Structured layouts

Grid-based, numbered sections, mono labels. The layout reflects the precision of the work.

17
Tone of Voice

The brand voice reflects the engineering culture behind the work. It is precise without being cold, confident without being loud.

Direct

Short sentences. No filler. Every word earns its place. The work speaks for itself.

Technical

Comfortable with specifics. Not afraid of jargon when it is the right word. Precision is a form of respect.

Understated

Confidence without noise. The most important systems are often invisible. The brand follows the same principle.

Nordic

Honest, functional, quality-focused. No hype. No overselling. The work is the proof.

Avoid

  • Buzzwords without substance ("disruptive", "revolutionary")
  • Excessive enthusiasm or exclamation marks
  • Vague promises without technical grounding
  • Marketing language that obscures the engineering

Use

  • Specific technical terms when accurate
  • Short, declarative sentences
  • Concrete descriptions of what the work does
  • Quiet confidence — let the systems speak

19
Design Decisions

Key decisions made during the initial design process, with rationale.

Font: Barlow Condensed 800

Stronger visual identity at display scale than the brief's Inter suggestion. Condensed proportions suit the stacked wordmark format. Better optical weight at large sizes.

Accent: Signal Teal #0099B8

Evolved from brief's Signal Blue #2563EB. More restrained and technical — less generic brand blue, more signal/infrastructure reference.

Three-color category system

Teal (Tech), Amber (Studio), Violet (Labs). Each area has a distinct identity while sharing the same dark base. Colors are deliberate, not decorative.

Full-bleed hero wordmark

The wordmark fills the viewport width. Type as architecture — the name is the design statement. Matches the reference image direction.

CSS grain texture overlay

Opacity 0.035 fractalNoise on body::before. Gives the dark canvas tactile depth without images. References the materiality of broadcast hardware.

Ø kerning: -0.04em margin

Barlow Condensed has extra side-bearing on the Ø glyph. Negative margin-right closes the gap before V and R for optically even spacing.

Logo: Concept A — wordmark only

Stacked LØVLAND / WØRKS. No separate icon mark needed at this stage. The Ø serves as the icon. Clean, scalable, typographic.
